Italian Evening - "Mille grazie"

"Mille grazie"

‘Wow! What a great evening …….’

‘Thank you Jenny for a superb time on Saturday evening – all your hard work paid off magnificently……’

‘Don’t Christians have fun! The decibel level of conversation last Saturday had to be heard to be believed…..!’

‘Saturday’s Italian evening will stand out as one of the highlights of the year – well done!’

‘What a night! Great company, delicious food, highly entertaining speaker – thank you Jenny to you and your team for organising such a great occasion.’

‘Praise for the pasta as well as the pastor ……’

‘Victor Stock was hilarious – a perfect after dinner speaker…..’

These are just snippets from some of the many messages that have been received after the hugely successful Italian Evening held last month to raise much needed funds for our three churches, which we are in danger of losing, along with our vicar, if more finances aren’t found to support them.

A hundred people sat down to enjoy an Italian themed dinner at Okewood Hill Village Hall which was transformed into an Italian Trattoria for the night. A ‘mille grazie’ must go to Jenny Reed whose original idea it was and who organised the entire evening but not without the support of some very generous and hardworking people who are too numerous to name here but you all know who you are so thanks to you also, for without you the event would not have been the success that it undoubtedly was. The Dean of Guildford, the Very Rev. Victor Stock stepped in at the last minute as guest speaker and entertained everyone with some of his tales from the diocese all of which were highly amusing, his life it seems is anything but dull!

Thank you also to everyone who contributed to the raffle and in particular would like to name three local companies: Bryce’s, The Parrot Inn and Village Greens all of whom provided very generous raffle prizes. In total the evening raised a little over £5,000 so was definitely worth everyone’s hard work.
